Welcome to Our Audiobook Blog!

Hello Visitors,

You are in for a treat - this blog contains 18 audio stories, written and read by 1st graders in the Maple Room. The stories are an offshoot of the larger 1st Grade Library project that culminates with a weeklong event at our school in late April.

We know that the Maple kids would appreciate any and all comments you may have about their stories. Just click on the link that says “0 Comments” to leave your responses. (You won’t see your comments “go live” immediately, because they are all approved by the moderator.) Feel free to pass our website information along to others as well, and be sure to visit the Banyan Blog and Huckleberry Blog to hear more classroom stories.

Shel Silverstein Poems

The students in Maple studied Shel Silverstein; they enjoyed reading many of
his books and poems. Each student chose one of Silverstein’s poems to memorize and to illustrate in his unique style of black line drawing. They then arranged and glued the lines of the poem in the correct order to make a book for the 1st Grade Library project.

Following are audio recordings of the students’ chosen poems by Shel Silverstein - from memory! Also included are electronic illustrations of some of the poems, created in the Mac Lab using Kid Pix. (Click on the thumbnails for a larger view.) We hope you enjoy the humor of his poetry as much as we do!
